Amy Biehl Foundation

A Cape Town youth NPO that focuses on empowering youth aged between 5 and 18. The Amy Biehl Foundation strives to help those who dwell in marginalised, challenging and vulnerable communities. Programmes are planned to stimulate creativity and aims to supplement the poor execution of the country’s curriculum in the poorer townships.

Operating four times a week, the kids are each provided with a sandwich and a cool drink every day, rare luxuries for the little ones. Extramural activities include vital HIV/AIDS peer education, literacy, creative arts, sport, computer literacy, drama and environmental awareness. Ultimately, the organisation wishes to help develop self-confidence and encourages them to take identities as future leaders, intellectuals and entrepreneurs. It currently operates five centres in Gugulethu, Philippi, Bonteheuwel, Khayelitsha and Athlone.
