18 March 2014

After an extensive planning and approval process, the much anticipated upgrade for the upper Tokai Road portion in Table Mountain National Park  is mere days away from becoming a reality. Not only will the road be upgraded but the construction of additional bulk services will also commence. These services are required to meet the needs of the envisaged Tokai Manor precinct development as a gateway to Table Mountain National Park.

During the next few weeks, a construction site will be established within the Tokai Picnic / Braai site, providing a base and access for the construction workers. However the braai site will continue to remain open for public use as the construction site will not be located near designated braai areas.

Please note that dual access will be available for all vehicles to access the Tokai precinct throughout the construction process.

Actual work will start on 26 March and barring weather delays, the anticipated completion date is scheduled for 16 July 2014. Construction workers will be on site from Monday to Friday from 08h00 – 17h30, and if necessary on Saturdays from 08h00 – 14h00.

SANParks would like to ask for patience and consideration from the public and all users groups during the construction phase of the upgrade. The upgrade of upper Tokai Road and the construction of additional bulk services is one of several implementation phases of the Tokai Manor precinct plan.
