‘Searching for Sugar Man’ documentary revealed as a Nominee for a Bafta and an Oscar

It was announced yesterday, Thursday 10 January 2013, that the much-lauded music documentary ‘Searching for Sugar Man’, about American singer-songwriter Rodriguez, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Documentary Feature category.
The film follows the efforts of two South African music lovers in discovering the story behind Rodriguez’ untold fame in South Africa and his disappearance from the music scene all together.
Released in 2012, the film won critical acclaim with the Special Jury Prize and the Audience Award for Best International Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival 2012; then going on to win further international film awards. In addition to an Oscar nomination, the documentary has been nominated for a Bafta in the Best Documentary category.

Rodriguez will be playing a series of concerts in South Africa in February 2013.
