John Hunt and Google to join Loeries International Creative Seminar

The Loerie Awards is pleased to announce the final speakers for the International Seminar of Creativity in Cape Town. John Hunt – Worldwide Creative Director, TBWA\ Worldwide, and a Google USA speaker will join the four jury chairmen at City Hall in Cape Town. In addition to this, three global leaders will join a panel discussion via Google Hangout.

The seminar will be held at City Hall on Friday 21 September and tickets are now available from www.theloerieawards.co.za. This highly anticipated event on the Loeries calendar takes place as a part of Creative Week Cape Town, which runs from 15 – 23 September.

John Hunt, Worldwide Creative Director, TBWA\ Worldwide

Zambian native, John Hunt, is a local and international legend who co-founded the advertising agency TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris in 1983, based on the mantra Life's too short to be mediocre. And indeed it has not been a mediocre journey for the agency. Since its inception, they have won countless awards including Agency of the Century, Agency of the Decade and Ad Age’s International Agency twice.

In 2009, TBWA produced the ‘Trillion Dollar Campaign’ for The Zimbabwean Newspaper, which went on to become the most awarded campaign of all time – including a Cannes Grand Prix, Loerie Grand Prix, Grand Clio, D&AD Black Pencil, and the Art Directors Club (first ever) Black Cube.

Proof that brand communication can make the world a better place, John was intimately involved in Nelson Mandela's first ANC election campaign in 1993. He has also found time to write a number of television and theatre plays, as well as other literature. He was named South African Playwright of the Year for Vid Alex, a play that condemned censorship during the apartheid years. John’s first book, The Art of the Idea, published in 2009, has already been translated into a number of languages.

Creative Week Cape Town 15 – 23 September

This year, judging will immediately precede the awards ceremonies and form a part of Creative Week Cape Town. Judging Week will be held from 17 – 20 September at Cape Town's revered City Hall and finalists will be announced throughout the week.

The week concludes with the Seminar of Creativity on Friday 21 September and the Awards Ceremonies on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September at the CTICC.
