Cape Town takes part in World Responsible Tourism Day

Wednesday, November 9, 2011 is the World Travel Market’s (WTM) World Responsible Tourism Day. It is supported by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and is a day of awareness and action around responsible and sustainable tourism. More than 150 international tour operators and organisations will participate in World Responsible Tourism Day at WTM today. (The WTM exhibition is currently underway in London).

Robben Island incident affects more than just travel to this historic heritage site

It was reported in the Sunday Argus on November 6, 2011 that the ongoing strike by Robben Island staff over wage increases and festive season leave turned violent on Saturday as unruly strikers tried to prevent tourists from boarding the Robben Island ferry, eventually forcing the cancellation of all tours that day.
