Thando Goes on a Western Cape Road Trip

Thando undertook an epic roadtrip through the Western Cape

To introduce our mobile visitor information vehicle, Thando, to the rest of the province and promote Cape Town as a great place to visit, three of the Cape Town Tourism team members underwent an epic roadtrip through the Western Cape from 9 – 23 June 2014.

A fun Facebook competition was also launched, where people had to guess Thando’s location. In return eleven winners each won daily prizes to the value of between R3000 and R7000. More than 740 entries were received, but Troy Smith was crowned the overall winner of the competition, receiving a road trip in Cape Town for four people worth R30,000.

Guessing where #Thando was everyday was certainly not easy since our colourful mobi ambassador was seen visiting key attractions and venues all over Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay, Langebaan, Swellendam, Tulbagh, Hermanus and more, and only the most cryptic of clues were published each day.

Thanks to members sponsoring prizes, the winner receives:

  • A three night stay at the Tsogo Sun Southern Sun Waterfront in the Cape Town City Centre.
  • Rental of a classy Avis vehicle because you need wheels for your road trip.
  • Four Table Mountain Aerial Cableway return tickets and a Table Mountain Café voucher.
