SANParks announces changes to its Wild Card programme
South Africa National Parks (SANParks) has announced changes in the management of its Wild Card programme, to be implemented in early 2011, and urges current cardholders to update their contact details accordingly. The Wild Card affords nature lovers unlimited access to some of Southern Africa’s premier conservation areas.
According to Glenn Phillips, managing executive of tourism development and marketing at SANParks, this move will enable SANParks and all of its partners – Swaziland’s Big Game Parks, CapeNature, Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife and Msinsi Resorts and Game Reserves – ensure more relevant benefits for all cardholders, as well as greater control of the Wild Card programme itself.
“Over the past year, through comprehensive research and customer feedback, it has become evident that we need to move the Wild Card programme to more advanced technology that will enable SANParks and its partners to provide relevant benefits to our loyal card holders.”
As a result, the current Infinity Wild Card will be replaced with a distinctive new card.
“We call upon all Wild Card holders to please update their membership details timeously, in order for them to receive the new Wild Card as well as continued access,” says Phillips.
Updates must be completed at any one of the Wild Card partner websites, at www.wildcard.co.za, www.sanparks.org or through the call centre on +27 (0)861 46 9453.
From December 31, 2010, SANParks will no longer honour Wild Cards sold by Infinity and its agents.
Phillips explained that the issuing of Infinity CashBack Rewards has also ceased and that cardholders’ CashBack Rewards will expire. CashBacks issued prior to October 20 are managed on behalf of members by Infinity. Infinity will transfer CashBacks on current Wild Cards to generic Infinity cards at no extra cost.

SANParks is committed to ensuring a seamless transition to the new programme, and as such is issuing this urgent call to all cardholders, asking them to ensure the accuracy of their records as soon as possible. SANParks regrets any inconvenience caused to Wild Card members during this process and assures the public that steps taken in this regard are necessary in order to protect the interests of SANParks, its conservation partners and Wild Card members.
