Marketing Services Update – December 2012

Tourism activities: The highlight of the quarter was the Send your Facebook Profile to Cape Town campaign, which launched at the beginning of October and ran until the end of December. The winner will be announced mid-January. Through the campaign almost 8 000 people travelled virtually to Cape Town for five days.

Our trade activities have involved representation at the Netherlands Roadshow and attendance at WTM in conjunction with Wesgro. Highlights of WTM included our #lovecapetown campaign being included in the white paper for excellence in social media. The LoveCapeTown campaign, which involved both blogger hosting and citizen engagement components, has been one of our most successful to date, with an ROI in excess of 16:1.

Our campaign with National Geographic is in full swing, with the documentary being finalised for airing in January.

Our media ROI was R6 601 473.10 for the quarter.

Our blog also underwent a refresh in December.

During December, we successfully hosted and provided information to four media groups, and gave support to 27 events.
