#LoveCapeTown creates an online buzz once again
Building on the very successful #LoveCapeTown results of 2012, Cape Town Tourism celebrated Tourism Month with another exciting campaign to shine the spotlight on all that the Mother City has to offer. During this year’s campaign #LoveCapeTown appeared on social media platforms more than 42 million times - a growth of 11% compared to last year. #LoveCapeTown was also used very successfully on other social media platforms like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and a variety of blogs.
Three international travel bloggers from the UK, USA and Brazil stayed in the #LoveCapeTown house for a total of 20 days and interacted with top local bloggers to showcase the city’s unique experiences to all their international and local followers. This year, each blogger followed a tailor-made thematic itinerary to suit their niche interests – food and, travel/lifestyle, with a focus on World Design Capital 2014, design.
The campaign and bloggers also received publicity on a variety of media platforms including The Expresso Breakfast Show on SABC 3, Smile FM and news24.com.
To further engage with the local market, a fun competition was run on Heart FM that requested listeners to share, live on air, why they love Cape Town. More than 700 entries were received with five winners each receiving amazing family packages valued at over R2000 each.
Cape Town Tourism also invited members to submit special offers during September for upload to a special section of the website.The aim was to highlight the accessibility of Cape Town during Tourism Month.
Although Tourism Month is over for 2013, it doesn’t stop here, #LoveCapeTown is an ongoing movement of all those who are passionate about the Mother City. Why not join the conversation and tell us why you #LoveCapeTown?
