Imvelo Awards for responsible tourism

The Imvelo Awards were inaugurated at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development, which took place in South Africa. The awards recognise tourism and hospitality businesses that promote and make a sustained contribution to responsible tourism.

Imvelo is now in its 10th year. The awards adhere to the responsible tourism guidelines for the South African hospitality industry as well as the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s code of ethics. Imvelo is also supported by the Heritage Environmental Rating Programme.

Members of Cape Town Tourism who are interested in entering the Imvelo Awards and would value some guidance in submitting their entry should .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), Industry Services Manager, before June 17 to register their interest. A shortlist of qualifying members will receive assistance from the responsible tourism team at the City of Cape Town in compiling their entries to ensure that we showcase excellent examples of responsible tourism that exist in the Mother City.
