Escape to the Cape wins national award – ETEYA
On Saturday evening, May 12, 2012, Escape to the Cape was announced the national winner of the prestigious 2012 Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award (ETEYA) at the opening ceremony of the Tourism Indaba in Durban. Shaheed Ebrahim expresses his thanks and describes what winning this award means for Escape to the Cape.
This is a huge accolade for me and is testament to the fact that the South African economy provides fertile ground for young, ambitious and hardworking individuals to establish successful business enterprises. From the inception of my business venture, I have utilised governmental and non-governmental resources available to me. I am indebted to the Western Cape government's Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Wesgro, Tourism Enterprise Partnership, Cape Town Tourism and South African Tourism, as well as the many corporates and organisations that supported me despite my limited experience.
My goal, to marry tourism and technology, is one that will continuously evolve. My service offerings include free on-board Wi-Fi, free internet calls to selected international destinations, the use of iPads, iPods and digital cameras, on-board phone and laptop chargers, as well as complimentary cellphones with local sim cards. Our innovation, however, has not come at the expense of good old-fashioned quality and service. My packages are fully inclusive with no hidden costs and guests can expect a multitude of service add-ons, such as toys for children, local snacks and drinks and car seats. My primary aim is to provide exceptional service at minimal cost and to ensure that my guests enjoy every moment of their South African experience.
I am immensely proud to bring this award to Cape Town and the Western Cape. Our tourism market is making great strides and I have no doubt that with your loyal support Escape To the Cape will only go from strength to strength.
