Cape Town Tourism welcomes Enver Duminy

Enver Duminy is Cape Town Tourism’s new executive manager for tourism services.

Enver is responsible for the various tourism centres around Cape Town and manages 70 staff members.

He is very excited about his change of career direction, saying that “No two days are the same.”

He adds: “There are lots of interesting challenges facing the travel and tourism industry, especially in the run-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and after the credit crunch affecting millions around the world.”

Enver has been “amazed” by his new working environment, coming from a financial services background, where he says “everybody speaks the same language and appears to morph or assimilate into one another”.

He is excited by the challenges of learning about the tourism industry and is grateful for the support he receives from the Cape Town Tourism team.

“CTT is a melting pot of colour, expression, passion and there’s an attitude where, in the end, everyone rallies together to make things work, despite the challenges on the horizon,” he says.

He thanks the Cape Town Tourism Board and executive team, as well as all his other colleagues for their support during his transition.

“I am confident that with their continued support and guidance, the value I bring to the organisation and to my colleagues will be realised much sooner rather than later.”

Enver’s career began at IBM, where he worked as an IT specialist for two years, before moving to an Eskom nuclear plant to perform a similar role for one year.

After spending two years as an IT infrastructure consultant at Origin SA, Enver then moved into electronic banking. He then spent five years working for Nedbank, where he ran the Western Cape ATM/POS business.

For the past three years, he has worked for Interger, a specialised non-bank mortgage lender. He started out as a business process consultant and served as head of operations in his last year there.

In his spare time, Enver is studying towards a Master’s in business administration through Edinburgh Business School. This would add to his impressive list of qualifications, which includes a BSc in Computer Science and Mathematical Statistics from the University of Western Cape. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional and completed a certificate in management studies in 2005/6.

Cape Town Tourism welcomes Enver Duminy to the team.
