JAMMS gives back on Mandela Day
The spirit of Ubuntu was alive and well at the Joint Association Members Meeting Sessions (JAMMS) at The Rotunda in Camps Bay on Mandela Day, Wednesday July 18, 2012.
Cape Town Tourism, FEDHASA Cape, SAACI and SATSA Western Cape joined forces in 2007 to bring members of all four organisations quality information sessions and networking opportunities known as Joint Association Members Meeting Sessions (JAMMS). This session focused on profitability, yield management and the cost-benefit scenario of sustainable business practices.
Speakers included Amiene van der Merwe, founder and director of Green Cab; Chris Godenir, general manager of The Peninsula All-Suite Hotel and Corne de Waal, revenue management and profit optimisation expert at RMEXPERTISE.
All JAMMS delegates were encouraged to bring along toys, blankets and educational items to donate to the Tourism Community Development Trust (TCD) as their contribution to Mandela Day.
Cape Town Tourism CEO Mariëtte Du Toit-Helmbold thanked the JAMMS delegates for their generosity: “We, as an industry, must carry responsible tourism to our communities. How we convey our stories, how money generated from the tourism industry spills down to where it is needed, is what makes a significant difference.”
A few delegates share their thoughts on the JAMMS:
