The annual World Travel Trend Report was once again issued by ITB Berlin and contains key reflections on 2013 and forecasts for the industry in 2014. The report projects a positive outlook for international tourism in 2014, with a 4-5% forecast for outbound travel as the world economy gradually starts improving.Read more

At the end of 2013, the Cape Town Tourism Board took a collective decision to forfeit their small monthly remuneration for contribution towards a fund (topped up by Cape Town Tourism) that will be awarded to two Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDIs) SMME businesses.Read more

Indaba - one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar - is taking place at the Albert Luthuli Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban for three days from 10-12 May 2014.

A number of developments in the wider environment have placed the spotlight firmly on the issue of Universal Accessibility (UA). The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa has introduced UA guidelines into the grading criteria for accommodation establishments; the Building Council has introduced mandatory requirements and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) regards it as both a human rights imperative, and an exceptional business opportunity.Read more
