CTT Launches the First Mobile Visitor Information Vehicle in Africa: #Thando

Following the rising trend of visitors wanting to access information about Cape Town wherever they are, Cape Town Tourism is proudly launching the very first Mobile Visitor Information Vehicle in Africa.

The innovative new Info Centre on wheels, affectionately named Thando, (which in the local African language Xhosa, is the word for love) will be launched and officially revealed at WTM Africa on Friday, 2 May. Thando will be available to view on stand A50, in the Africa Main Hall.

The vehicle will also be on display at the CTT Members Industry event on 29th of May, so save the date!

An Excellent High Season Reported for Cape Town

The optimism displayed by Cape Town’s tourism sector ahead of the 2013/2014 season has been confirmed with businesses reporting an excellent high season overall.

Looking at the industry performance by sectors for the period of October 2013 till February 2014, and interpreting surveys done by Cape Town Tourism (canvasing over 500 industry members and more than 1600 visitors over 5 months) positive feedback has been received across the board.

Services Update – March 2014

Marketing highlights for the past quarter included our very 1st trade representation sent to one of our key source markets, India, and representing Cape Town successfully at ITB. In addition we have hosted a number of high quality media from The Guardian; The Telegraph; The Huffington Post; Conde Nast Traveler; Sawubona and Monocle amongst others. Our media ROI for the quarter was close to R5m, a 40% increase on what we achieved in the same quarter last year.
