Following the rising trend of visitors wanting to access information about Cape Town wherever they are, Cape Town Tourism is proudly launching the very first Mobile Visitor Information Vehicle in Africa.
The innovative new Info Centre on wheels, affectionately named Thando, (which in the local African language Xhosa, is the word for love) will be launched and officially revealed at WTM Africa on Friday, 2 May. Thando will be available to view on stand A50, in the Africa Main Hall.

The optimism displayed by Cape Town’s tourism sector ahead of the 2013/2014 season has been confirmed with businesses reporting an excellent high season overall.
Looking at the industry performance by sectors for the period of October 2013 till February 2014, and interpreting surveys done by Cape Town Tourism (canvasing over 500 industry members and more than 1600 visitors over 5 months) positive feedback has been received across the board.Read more

In addition we have hosted a number of high quality media from The Guardian; The Telegraph; The Huffington Post; Conde Nast Traveler; Sawubona and Monocle amongst others. The annual World Travel Trend Report was once again issued by ITB Berlin and contains key reflections on 2013 and forecasts for the industry in 2014. The report projects a positive outlook for international tourism in 2014, with a 4-5% forecast for outbound travel as the world economy gradually starts improving.Read more

Two prescribed burns will take place in the Cape of Good Hope Section of Table Mountain National Park in the near future. The areas impacted include Da Gama Peak and the section next to the Cape Point Main Gate. This will consolidate last year’s burn of 252 hectares into a burned area of 710 hectares.
