Talking Tourism: UK Air Passenger Duty increase put on hold
Welcome news from the UK is that the British government has decided to delay the APD (Air Passenger Duty) increase until next year. Delivering his annual budget speech in the House of Commons, British Chancellor George Osborne said yesterday that “with the hefty duty rise last year, and with the cost pressures on families, we think it would be fair to delay this April’s Air Passenger Duty rise to next year.”

Cape Town Tourism, in conjunction with provincial and city stakeholders, has developed a Visitor Safety and Support plan with proactive and reactive programmes, as well as a dedicated Visitor Support Programme. A Visitor Safety and Security Forum was also put in place in November 2005 as a shared platform for interested members, safety and security agencies, stakeholders and major attractions. It meets every three months to formulate, activate and track the progress of projects that ensure a safer city for visitors.
