Marketing services update

April saw the first month where arrivals to Cape Town are starting to decrease in the light of winter season. A winter accommodation survey undertaken by Cape Town Tourism for April and May 2012 does show welcome growth but it also serves as a stark reminder of the challenge of seasonality.

Tourism services update – July 2012

The visitors services team witnessed the effect of the low season on the network during June. Over the counter enquiries within the Cape Town Tourism network decreased by15% month on month while the entire network including accredited VIC’s shows a 29% decrease month on month.  The total number of visitors for entire CTT network incl accredited VIC’s was 11 517 and 7 683 for the CTT network (excl accredited VIC’s).

5th annual e-Tourism Africa summit launched in Cape Town

The fifth annual e-Tourism Africa summit will take place on September 13 and 14 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The summit will bring together some of the world’s leading experts in online tourism, including TripAdvisor, Wanderfly, Expedia, Facebook developers and a host of new and innovative speakers. New sessions will cover Facebook campaigning for tourism and mobile travel apps. South African Tourism is the title sponsor of the two-day conference, with Cape Town Tourism as the host sponsor.

Cape Town Tourism lends insights into visitor safety

Cape Town Tourism held its quarterly Visitor Safety and Security Forum at the Hilton Hotel in the city centre on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. The aim of the meeting was to facilitate dialogue around public safety issues in a proactive manner. Representatives from major attractions, such as the Table Mountain Cableway, V&A Waterfront and Kirstenbosh National Botanical Garden as well as the Central City Improvement District (CCID) and SAPS, were in attendance.
