The National Environmental Management Protected Areas Act (Act 57 of 2003) stipulates that a license, permit or agreement is required at an appropriate fee to undertake commercial activities within a reserve, national park or World Heritage Site. Table Mountain National Park’s Commercial Operator permitting process was established to drive SANParks’ enforcement of the act to ensure that the impact of commercial activities within the Park are carefully managed and do not infringe on the organisation’s core mandate of conservation.
