Costs

Membership fees start at R333 per annum, including VAT, and there are discounted rates for businesses in their first three years of operation.
All businesses are required to pay the annual membership fees according to the relevant category and rates. A full list of fees can be downloaded. Fees are increased annually. There is a one-off joining fee of R400.
Businesses in their first three years of operation can apply for a discounted “newcomer entrepreneur” fee.
The Cape Town Tourism board supports businesses that have more than 51% black shareholding, sponsoring membership fees for the first year (excluding the joining fee).
Hotel groups are eligible for a group rate that includes membership for all accommodation, restaurants, conference and other facilities within a group fee.

Businesses that offer multiple services to visitors – accommodation and a conference venue, for example – will be charged the full fee for the primary service and 50% of the fee applicable for all other services.
If the various services are separate or on different premises and income is not shared, full rates will be charged on all the relevant categories. This means that if a restaurant is located on separate premises from the accommodation, both will be liable for full membership fees.
When a restaurant and an accommodation establishment are located on the same site, but use different brands for their products, they will be charged the full rate for each brand.
Businesses that are located outside Cape Town but in the Western Cape receive a 40% discount on the relevant membership category. Businesses outside the Western Cape receive a 60% discount on the relevant membership category.
Any establishment can apply to Cape Town Tourism for subsidised membership. This may be granted based on the merit of each case. This must be done in consultation with the Cape Town Tourism CEO and is subject to approval.
Any association, club and society that waives the membership fee of Cape Town Tourism for its organisation may enjoy reciprocal membership. This will be formalised in writing between both parties and is subject to standard criteria.
Our rates are divided into categories based on the business type and size. The membership period runs from September 1 to August 31 each year. Members may join throughout the year and will be charged a pro rata rate until August 31. Members may apply for debit order payments. If a debit order payment is not selected, membership fees should be paid annually in advance using cash, cheque, credit card, direct deposit or electronic transfer.
