The 2015 Stellenbosch Wine Festival, presented by Pick 'n Pay, promises festival goers a not-to-be-missed experience, with world-class food and wine and some of the best entertainment South Africa has to offer, all in the magical setting of Coetzenburg, just outside Stellenbosch.

The weekend festival, which is set to take place from 30 January to 1 February 2015, will showcase the finest wines from nearly 100 farms, as well as the Gourmet Lane boasting what has made the area one of the country’s culinary capitals.

Festival goers are also in for a treat with a line-up of sunset concerts featuring the cream of local talent – providing the perfect way to relax and unwind with a delicious glass or two of wine. Starting on Friday, 30 January from 20h00 to 22h00, the ever-popular Jannie Moolman, Corlea Botha and Riana Nell will take you on a musical journey with everything from classically-inspired ballades to more up-tempo numbers.

If you prefer a more laid-back sound, then the jazzy sounds of Auriol Hays coupled with the magical fusion of instrumental act Sterling EQ will definitely appeal to you. You’ll find them on stage on Saturday, 31 January at 16h30 and 19h00 respectively.

Be sure not to miss guitarist and vocalist Jeremy Olivier on Sunday afternoon from 13h00

Wrapping up the weekend’s entertainment will be an intimate session with the incredible Kahn Morbee from 16h00 to 18h00.
Entry to the concerts are included in the festival ticket price of R170 per adult and R60 for children under 18.

Dedicated kiddies’ entertainment at the Momentum Health Kiddies Area will ensure that toddlers to tweens will have loads of supervised fun while parents relax and enjoy the festival.  The Klouter Kabouter playground with its mini jumping castles and fun inflatables will cater for the toddlers, while tweens will love the larger castles and water slide.  A team of six dedicated caretakers and qualified nursery teachers will be on duty every day to oversee activities and make sure everything runs without a hitch. The littlies can also look forward to an authentic farmyard experience with a petting zoo, tractor rides and sack races.

  • The Pick n Pay Women’s Walk will take participants through the tree-lined streets of Stellenbosch on Saturday, 31 January 2015, and remember men are welcome too!

  • Cycling fans can look forward to the first edition of the 18-km Grape Mountain Bike Ride presented by Momentum on Sunday, 1 February at R100 per entry.  Cyclists will also be granted free access to the festival ground with an additional R70 payable for a glass and tasting coupons.

Daily tickets are available from www.webtickets.co.za.  Also visit the festival website at www.stellenboschwinefestival.co.za for a full event schedule and costs.

The Quadrant – Claremont’s ‘work, live and play’ precinct bordering Wilderness and Main Roads (close to Kingsbury Hospital) and adjoining the Claremont Library – recently unveiled its new Saturday market.

The Quadrant, which is fast becoming one of the most sought after residential, health-zone and office node has opened its adjoining Library Square to speciality traders.

And the organisers are welcoming all to share in the markets bounty.

Stalls are set up on the leafy Library Square which forms part of the precinct, and patrons have the choice of a wide variety of items for sale.  These include fresh farm produce, freshly baked breads, artisan goods, boutique wines, homemade preserves, olives, gourmet food, seasonal items, crafts, artwork from local artists and plants & herbs.

Members of the public are also invited to simply soak up the atmosphere of the vibrant market or to enjoy some refreshments at A Tavola restaurant and Café Nood that also form part of the precinct.
