Cape Town attracts thousands of international students every year. It is a beautiful, clean and safe city, with a vibrant student life. International students and local students alike can choose from world-class institutions such as the University of Cape Town (UCT), the University of the Western Cape, the University of Stellenbosch a little further afield, and various specialty colleges and language schools.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011-2012 listed UCT as 103rd in the world and the top university in Africa while the QS World University Rankings ranked UCT at number 156 in the world in 2011 and the top tertiary institution in South Africa. It is also the only South African university to make this particular list for four years in a row.

In 2011, the Financial Times of London rated the University of Cape Town’s MBA programme number one in the world in terms of best value for money. For several years, UCT has been the only business institution in Africa to feature in the Financial Times' top 100 list.

Cape Town has plenty to offer those wanting to embark on a degree, or those just looking for a shorter, specific course. Here, you'll find a wide range of specialist schools in cookery, interior design, film, animation and art, as well as a variety of English language institutions.
