Travelling by MyCiTi Bus
The MyCiTi Bus
MyCiTi is Cape Town’s modern, scheduled bus service. MyCiTi busses meet strict Euro 5 emissions standards to minimise the impact on the environment.
Where Does MyCiTi Go?
Current routes link the tourist playground of the central city with major landmarks, such as the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain Cableway, Sea Point Promenade and pristine beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, with the seaside fishing village of Hout Bay along the Atlantic Seaboard. The MyCiTi service also travels north from the central city, to the west Coast suburbs around Table View and along the Blouberg coastline, with its picture-postcard views of Table Mountain and Robben Island in Table Bay.
MyCiTi operates up to 18 hours a day depending on the route, so your can enjoy the city’s many attractions from early morning to long after sunset.

How to Use MyCiTi
MyCiTi does not accept cash on the buses. Each passenger aged 4 and over needs their own myconnect card to travel. Get yours from MyCiTi stations, including the Airport station or Cape Town Tourism’s Visitor Centres (Airport, Burg Street, Blaauwberg and load your card with money for travel. There are also select retailers that sell the cards and offer facilities to load money on your card.
When you leave Cape Town, keep your card for our next visit to the city.
MyCiti provides shuttle services for specials events which are held in Cape Town and the schedule for the specific events as per their terms and conditions found on the MyCiti website.
Fares are based on the distance in kilometres travelled.
How to Use the Card
Tap your myconnect card against the special validators when you start your journey and end your journey. This ensures you pay the correct fare and avoid penalties. If you enter or exit at a station, tap your myconnect card against the validator to the right of the access gates and they will swing open and let you through. If you enter at a roadside bus stop, tap your card against the validators marked ‘IN’. When you exit a bus at a roadside stop, tap your card against the validators marked ‘OUT’ as you get out.
Connect with the Airport
The MyCiTi Airport service offers a safe, comfortable and reasonably priced option to get you between the Cape Town International Airport and the City Centre. This service travels along a dedicated bus lane so your journey will be as short as 20 minutes, or a little longer in peak hours. The route travels from the bus station directly outside the terminal building at the Airport to the Civic Centre station in the City Centre, with direct onward travel to the many hotels in Green Point and the shops and attractions of the V&A Waterfront.
