The Loerie Awards, dedicated to celebrating creative talent in the South African advertising industry, first landed in Cape Town in 2009.
The annual awards, which were previously hosted in the KwaZulu-Natal town of Margate, celebrate the best in brand communication work: architecture, design, print and radio advertising, direct marketing, live events, and video and digital media.
These prominent awards have got bigger and better each year since their launch in 1979, and their new home in the Mother City attests to this.
The city’s vibey Long Street forms the Loeries Village by night, while Camps Bay is transformed for the Loeries by day, with agency lunches and activities galore taking place along the trendy strip.
Cape Town Tourism’ CEO Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold says the Loeries’ move to the Mother City affirms Cape Town’s growing reputation as a creative city.
“We are very pleased that this important relationship has been established with such a prestigious event and we are looking forward to welcoming the Loeries again in 2012,” says Du Toit-Helmbold.
The 2012 Loerie Awards will happen on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
