Taj Cape Town
Q: Describe your business.
A: We are a leading international luxury hotel brand that has recently opened its first hotel, the Taj Cape Town, in South Africa. The hotel is situated in the heart of historical Cape Town, on the corner of St Georges Mall, Wale Street and Adderley Street, directly opposite the Company Gardens and Houses of Parliament.
Q: How long have you been a member of Cape Town Tourism?
A: Since the company formed, in June 2009.
Q: Why did your business become a member of Cape Town Tourism?
A: As a tourism provider we work with all the key tourism role players to contribute to developing Cape Town and South Africa as a preferred destination. Our aim is to support and collaborate with all the tourism stakeholders to promote our city and support the tourism effort in any way possible, in terms of public relations, marketing and tourism product development. Being a member of Cape Town Tourism also provides us with a number of networking opportunities, which also prove valuable in terms of sales, marketing and public relations activities.
Q: In what ways has being a member of Cape Town Tourism helped your business?
A: As a new hotel, we have worked with Cape Town Tourism to actively promote and market the city centre and to communicate all the positive work that’s been done to develop the city as a tourism destination. Cape Town Tourism has been an invaluable source of information, which has assisted us in our marketing strategy to position the Taj Cape Town as an authentic experience in the cultural heart of this historical city. Cape Town Tourism has also facilitated and provided us with a number of public relations and marketing opportunities, which have been invaluable when opening a new luxury hotel.
Q: For what reasons would you recommend Cape Town Tourism membership to others?
A: We have to be proactive by participating, engaging and collaborating with all tourism providers and stakeholders to develop not just our products, but also our destination. Organisations like Cape Town Tourism continue to provide us, as a supplier, with invaluable information and networking opportunities that make a significant contribution to the success of our hotel and its sales and marketing strategy. We do not expect Cape Town Tourism to provide us with all the answers or put bums in beds, but rather look to actively engage with them as one of our most important and significant partners in tourism.
