Cape Town is less than 20 hours from New York, with just one stop required in Johannesburg if you fly with South African Airways. From Atlanta, you can fly directly to Johannesburg with Delta Airlines.

From other cities in the United States, you can fly to Cape Town via London with American Airlines or with British Airways.

Return trips between New York and Cape Town vary in price according to the time of year and how far in advance you book. You can expect to pay somewhere between $800 and $2 000 for flights. A variety of low-cost domestic airlines service the route between Cape Town and Johannesburg, with flights for the two-hour journey starting from around $100.

Airport security at Cape Town International Airport is of world-class standards and getting from the airport is easy to arrange.
