Incentive ideas

Cape Town was voted the world’s best incentive destination by readers of Conference & Incentive Travel magazine in 2009. More than 400 event planners representing some of the biggest brands and their corporate travel budgets voted across an eight-week period.

Conference & Incentive Travel editor Yasmin Arrigo told Conference & Incentive Travel magazine: “Cape Town’s mix of top hotels, fine restaurants and endless activities has captured the imagination of C&IT‘s readers. The city’s star is set to rise even further in 2010 as the World Cup draws corporates to South Africa.”

If you want to show your employees or clients that you are creative, ingenious, fun-loving and young at heart yet sophisticated, and that you appreciate beauty, then choose Cape Town as an incentive travel destination.

Cape Town not only caters for large companies but is also great for smaller groups and even individual incentives. Cape Town provides such incredible variety that incentives can be designed to meet the exact requirements of any company.

There are excellent incentive organisers who will assist with every part of your incentive trip. Browse the database of Cape Town Tourism accredited incentive organiser partners, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call +27 (0)21 487 6800 for more information.

Abundant nature

Try kayaking with African penguins from Simon’s Town to nearby Boulders Beach penguin colony or watching whales from a private boat during the season, from May to September.

Add close encounters with baboons, riding an ostrich or enjoying a game drive at Clara Anna Fontein private game reserve, followed by a boma dinner under the stars.

Cape Town offers all this within the city’s boundary.

You should also consider including a tour with a botanist in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, one of the eight protected areas in the Cape Floral Region World Heritage Site.

This area is described by Unesco as “one of the richest areas for plants in the world” and 70% of the species here occur nowhere else on Earth.

Sports and outdoors

Cape Town offers many activities for sporting and outdoor achievers. A fabulous experience is a Cape Town soccer tour where you will see how great divides in our society are overcome by a shared passion for football.

Even those who are less than fanatical about soccer will catch South African football fever after this tour. It’s all about people who inspire.

You can also add experiences as diverse as deep-sea fishing, clay pigeon shooting, golf, kite boarding, mountain biking and horseriding on sandy beaches to your incentive experience in Cape Town.

Creative and inventive

Cape Town also invites you to experience its heart and soul through its people and their creative spirit.

Come with us to share our cultural riches and see the value of contributing positively to the communities you visit. Learn from a nation that has undergone great hardship and progressed into a democratic society that is still learning to live and work together. Include African drumming, participating in a Cape Malay or African cooking workshop, taking private art classes, learning African beading or even enjoying an evening of local poetry and storytelling.

You should not miss the Cape Town jazz safari, an intimate evening excursion into the living rooms of Cape jazz musicians followed by a sample of contemporary Cape Town sounds at one of the inner-city live jazz nightspots. This unique tour is created by Coffeebeans Routes and Andulela Experience.

Absolute adventure

With fantastic mountains, beaches and over 3 000 hours of sunshine on average each year, Cape Town is a top destination for adventure incentives. There are skilled operators that offer specialised air adventures including abseiling, paragliding, microlighting and parachuting. Other companies focus on water activities including diving with great white sharks, surfing lessons, scuba diving, kite-surfing and high-speed power boat trips.

You can even arrange for your team members or clients to take the helm of a world-class single-seat racing car and challenge each other to a time trial at the Killarney Race track with Fantastic Racing.

Views and more

Cape Town has great places where you can simply relax. Include champagne and oysters at sunset on the top of Table Mountain or dinner on a private yacht looking up at the sheer rock-face of the city’s favourite icon. Spend some time doing a private wine tasting with one of the city’s many excellent wine makers and don’t forget to include at least one spa treatment to reward your team.

What better way to recognise and reward your staff for their extraordinary achievements than with an incentive travel programme to Cape Town?
