Your #lovecapetown Weekend: Things to do from Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December, 2013
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.
Can you feel it, #lovecapetown? Your amazing weekend in the pulsating Mother City is on its way!
There is so much to do so why not join me at the following events from Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December, 2013:
The kick off for the official start of the festive season in our beautiful hometown starts with the switching on of the lights by Mayor Patricia de Lille in Adderley Street so don’t miss the Festival of Lights party at the Grand Parade this Sunday.
Before you marvel at the illuminating wonders the City of Cape Town has for us this year, you can get down like there is no work in the morning with DJ LuWayne Wonder, singer Jimmy Nevis, pop band Goodluck and more.
I love a good beach day and nothing gets me more excited to break out the sunscreen, beach balls and bikinis than the popular annual Safe Summer Beach Festival at Muizenberg.
Grab your surfboards, your mates and some tasty snacks and join your fellow summer loving folks for a day of live entertainment by Idols runner-up Gift Gwe and fun activities including beach soccer, volleyball, surfing lessons, giant games, kite surfing, obstacle courses, a jumping castle, face-painting and more.

You know I love good theatre and this weekend, you’re sure to get it with the fabulously talented Waseef Piekaan in the delightful comedic show, Wrongly Accused at the Baxter Masambe Theatre.
Skilfully switching between six characters who are equally fascinating, tells us the story of how a humble Eastern Cape boy is falsely suspected of a robbery and his poignant journey to proving his innocence.
Wrongly Accused, directed by theatrical legend Basil Appollis, is a festive season must-see so book your tickets now at +27 (0)861 915 8000.
