Your #lovecapetown weekend: Things to do from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 April, 2014
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.
#lovecapetown, are you ready for a fun-filled weekend in our beautiful Mother City?
There is so much happening in our entertaining hometown; I can’t decide what to do first! From a family fun day in the Stellenbosch Winelands to a musical show in the Southern Suburbs and an interesting arts exhibition in the townships, it’s non-stop fun all the way.
Join me at the following events in and around Cape Town from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 April, 2014:
Soak up the sunshine and quality family time at the FamFest at the Wild Clover estate just outside Stellenbosch this Sunday.
It’s a kiddies’ extravaganza with jumping castles, roaming magicians, children’s movies, petting farms and more to keep your young ones entertained. Mom and Dad, you’ve been catered for too with live music, shaded sit-down areas, a fully stocked bar and, wait for it, on site trained child minders!
For more information about this must-attend family-centric event, please visit www.famfest.co.za
He’s travelled the world performing in true Capetonian productions and grown-up before our very eyes; now one of the Mother City’s truly gifted sons, Loukmaan Adams, brings the musical tale of his life to the Baxter Theatre’s stage.
In a production that features upbeat and popular songs, and an immensely talented cast, including the precocious Caleb Rodgers as a young Loukmaan, Adams gives us a heart-warming, often tear-jerking insight into his life as a child theatre star.
Book your tickets at Computicket.
Langa Township Arts Gallery
Want to get up close and personal with a World Design Capital project in the heart of Langa? Then don’t miss the Langa Township Art Gallery this weekend.
Art installations are hosted within the homes of the township’s residents and give visitors an opportunity to see the creative works of ten homeowners Zolani Siphungela, Velile Soha and Patrick Holo, while discovering the stories of this vibrant community.
