Hello, weekend in the Mother City!

If, like me, you feel that the weekend has been a long time coming, I’m sure you cannot wait for 48 hours of rock stars, nature walks and lovely Cape Malay cuisine, too.

Join me at the following events in Cape Town from Friday 31 May to Sunday 2 June, 2013:

Chevelle live

Get ready to rock 'n roll with American band Chevelle at the Grand Arena this Friday, baby!

The seriously sexy I Get It and Mia hitmakers – who originally hail from a suburb of Chicago, and have been an outfit since 1995 – are going to blow you away with their rocking concert. I’m sure you cannot wait to see brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler, and brother-in-law Dean Bernardini in action.

Book your tickets at +27 (0)861 915 8000 and then get in the mood for a great time with the video below of their hit single Face to the Floor, taken from their critically acclaimed 2011 album Hats Off to the Bull.

Kirstenbosch Historical Centenary Walk

Can you believe that the impressive Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is 100 years old?

Take a meander through this legendary World Heritage Site on its Historical Centenary Walk this Saturday.

Entry for the walk is free, but gate fees will be in effect.

Call +27 (0)21 799 8783 for more information.

Bo-Kaap Food and Craft Market

There’s more to the vibrant Bo-Kaap than just its colourful houses and phenomenal views of the city.

Once a month, the local tieties (aunties) gather at the Schotschekloof Civic Centre to showcase their delectable koeksisters, spicy curries and rotis, and beautifully crafted items.

You can shop and eat to your heart’s content at this undercover market, while listening to Cape Malay music sung by community members.

Call +27 (0)21 424 3736 for more information.
