World Cup Opening Ceremony in pictures
Yesterday, my family and I were lucky enough to attend the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Opening Ceremony and opening match between South Africa and Mexico, at Soccer City in Soweto. It was a fantastic experience, and made us very proud to be South African. The Opening Ceremony was African in flavour and simple, yet stylish. The crowd was almost completely decked out in yellow, in support of Bafana Bafana. Go, South Africa, this World Cup belongs to you!

The atmosphere at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony was electric!

The ceremony was slick, yet elegantly African.

A huge dung beetle-puppet was one of the highlights of the Opening Ceremony.

Hundreds of performers at the World Cup Opening Ceremony gathered to form the shape of Africa.

There were fireworks towards the end.
