Watch the whales by rail

Metrorail is offering a kid-friendly tour of the Cape Peninsula in the nick of time for those wondering how to keep the little ones out of trouble during this week of school holidays.
With Metrorail’s school holiday schedule, adults and children can take a special train trip to Muizenberg, Kalk Bay or Fish Hoek, starting at Cape Town station.
On board, you can sit back and enjoy the view, while a rail tourism ambassador entertains the kids with informative tales about whales, and interactive and educational games. And that’s just the beginning of the fun, followed by an activity-filled programme at your destination. If you’re really lucky, you’ll get to watch southern right whales frolic in False Bay.
The trains leave from Cape Town station at 09h32 and return at 14h28.
