Vulcan Rock – Flickr pic of the day

This striking image of a diver swimming past a coral window was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Jean Tresfon.

Jean says, “Most diving tourists come to Cape Town for one reason only ... to dive with the great white sharks in False Bay. Most of these divers leave without ever having realised that they have missed some of the world’s best temperate water diving. Cape Town has a huge number of stunning dive sites, on both wrecks and reefs. There really is something for everyone.

“This image was taken while diving at Vulcan Rock, just outside Hout Bay. Vulcan is one of my favourite places to dive, with numerous caves and massive boulders to explore, all covered in a multitude of cold water corals of every colour imaginable. After a few days of strong south-east wind the water turns icy cold and the visibility can exceed 30m. This ususally presents fanatstic photo opportunities for those prepared to brave the temperature,” he continues.

Do you have images of Cape Town you’d like to share with us? We’d love you to join the Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group!
