Virgin Atlantic: Daily flights from London to Cape Town
Stuart Buchanan is a journalist, blogger, and online writer for Flow Communications.
He grew up in Durban and has lived in various parts of South Africa and the UK, before finally settling on Cape Town. He often wonders why anyone would want to live anywhere else.
Summer is returning to Cape Town, and so are direct flights from London with Virgin Atlantic. Flights will depart London thrice weekly until October 31, 2012, and then daily from November 1, 2012 until April 2013.
"By introducing the direct flight for summer, we believe this will drive additional tourism to both London and Cape Town," said Simon Newton-Smith, Virgin Atlantic country manager for South Africa. "The direct route also cuts down costs, whichever way you're flying."
The average flight time from London Heathrow to the Mother City is about 12 hours.
Virgin Atlantic is sponsoring the My Cape Town Holiday competition, in which you can send your Facebook profile to Cape Town and stand a chance of winning the trip for real. The competition closes on December 31, 2012, so enter now. The video below explains the competition further.
