View over Hout Bay – Flickr pic of the day

Blog Featured Image

This photograph of Hout Bay taken from the Silvermine Trail on the Cape Peninsula was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Andrew aka silver~halide.

Andrew says, “Getting out on one of the many trails in and around Cape Town never disappoints. Some say this view of Hout Bay from the Silvermine Trail is the best in the Western Cape and it certainly stands out for me among some truly impressive competition.

“This picture was taken on a very windy Sunday. So windy in fact that I had trouble staying on my feet. The Peninsula’s dramatic scenery is often at its best when the weather turns bad,” Andrew continues.

Silvermine Nature Reserve forms part of the Table Mountain National Park and part of the Cape Peninsula mountain range, from Kalk Bay through to Constantiaberg.

It’s an easy getaway from city life from most parts of the Peninsula, and offers some relatively gentle walks. The short hiking trails lead to a point where a picturesque view of the landscape stretching from False Bay, all the way around to Cape Point, can be seen.

Do you have images of Cape Town you’d like to share with us? We’d love you to join the Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group!
