Big Concerts and partners 94.5 Kfm have confirmed that Irish group U2 are set to rock Cape Town Stadium on Friday, February 18, 2011 and 72 000 tickets for this music extravaganza will go on sale at Computicket from 09h00 on Saturday, October 23.
The cheapest ticket is R161 and VIP tickets are going for a cool R2 568.
Last in South Africa in 1998, when they blew crowds away with their energetic stage performance, this band is perhaps most famous for the 1987 chart-topping hit “Where the Streets Have No Name”, and countless others besides, not to speak of 22 Grammy Awards and their 2005 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. None other than Rolling Stone magazine list them at number 22 in its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
The band, which has sold over 150 million records worldwide in over three decades, is made up of Paul David Hewson, better known as Bono, on lead guitar and vocals, the Edge on keyboard and vocals, Adam Clayton on bass guitar and Larry Mullen Jr on drums and percussion.
Pop musician Neil Diamond will also perform at Cape Town Stadium in April 2011.
