1. La Colombe

"My boyfriend and I were visiting the winery from Canberra, Australia. While the food and presentation was amazing, the service we received from the staff was what made this visit special for us. The staff gave us our space but when engaged in conversation were very easy to talk to and gave some good advice about the area. When my boyfriend and I opted to share the mango dessert, were were strongly advised against it, saying that it was too good to share... and that was [the] best dessert I have ever had the joy of tasting! Be sure to tip accordingly!" Breeahna Banana, Canberra, Australia.

"I had a dinner at La Colombe on June 25, 2012. It was amazing, [from] the location to the service and the amazing food. I definitely recommend [it] for those looking for a nice dinner experience," rafael_rio, Rio de Janeiro.

2. Codfather Seafood & Sushi

"You are allowed to choose your own fish, which is excellently prepared and served at your table. The sushi is great, and you have a view of the ocean from your seat," orowan, Barnstable, Massachusetts.

"On several recommendations, we went to Codfather and were thrilled with the food and service. Great sushi and fish and very reasonably priced. The ambiance was also warm and welcoming. Trevor was our server and took excellent care of us. We were so pleased we went back a second time during our one week visit!" ReviewerMD.

3. Constantia Uitsig

"Stunning atmosphere, great food and service. [I have] been there a number of times and have never been disappointed. Consistency comes to mind," Andy730Vienna, Austria.

"The service was very attentive without being intrusive. We had three courses each, so managed to sample a good few dishes from meat to fish to veggie. All were good portions and excellently cooked. The wine list was obviously biased towards the wine farm, but they have a good product there too. This restaurant manages to combine a wonderful setting with good food and service. We will be back on our next trip," SussexCpl, Sussex, England.

4. Il Leone Mastrantonio

"Second visit. Really attentive and friendly staff, great menu, excellent and not too expensive wines. Close to Rockwell apartments and Cape Town's gay village. Recommended," Steve-London-N16 London.

5. La Boheme

"Quite possible my most favourite restaurant in Cape Town. The area is not as posh as Waterfront or Camps Bay, but you'll get exceptional value, very good food and escape the tourist crowds," tom101cz, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"Our hotel recommended this place and WOW what a great meal and warm, friendly service. Everything we ordered was excellent, can't wait to return to Cape Town and eat at La Boheme again!" cowenevett, Carefree, Arizona.

6. Miller's Thumb

"Great seafood. Fantastic chocolate pecan pie. The place has a cozy vibe and really friendly service. The three of us each ordered something different – the simply grilled mahi mahi, the prawns with garlic butter, and the Moroccan kingklip were delicious. We followed our main course with chocolate pecan pie and some other dessert. I just remember the chocolate pecan pie, which was amazing. The price was very reasonable as well," redandpinkmatch, New York City, New York.

"Milller's Thumb's bright orange and green decor sums up its vibrant atmosphere and the personality of the owner. This little fish restaurant does great things with fresh produce, combining flavours to give diners the opportunity to try anything from a simple grilled fillet to complex Moroccan spices. Food is complemented by a good wine list and both the owner and waiting staff work hard to ensure a memorable experience," 75AT, Essex.

7. Catharina's The Restaurant at Steenberg

"Well, what can I say other than this is the place that I chose to get married at and [where we] had our wedding dinner with family. The service is excellent and ambience is great. Booking is definitely good to secure a good seating. They serve great brunch on weekend and we celebrated my husband's birthday there too. A must-go-to restaurant if you are visiting Cape Town. And if you are a keen golfer, they have a great golf course too," PinkLewis, Tauranga, New Zealand.

8. Myoga

"We dined at Myoga recently. We had the taster menu and it was a blissful taste sensation. The service was impeccable, friendly without closing in on you, the atmosphere terrific and the food was just stunning. I had been a little concerned that the taster menu would overwhelm us but the portions are exactly right and each one is a delectable treat. Would recommend this restaurant at the Vineyard Hotel without hesitation," PurdyLincoln, Lincoln, UK.

9. Willoughby & Co

"A lively place with very good food and a nice atmosphere. Do not expect silence and candles – it is a lively place where you will eat side by side with other customers. However, the atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant. The food is really good, particularly the fish. They also offer good, value-for-money wine," Pereppo, Milan.

10. Carne

"What a wonderful treat. Going to Carne for the first time and having a wonderful meal – the meat is superbly and simply cooked. Excellent ingredients served in a plain no-frills setting by staff who know what they are talking about. None of the hyperbole that is so common in so many steakhouses around the world. Just a simple and excellent experience which, although not cheap, is still good value for money. Very good wine list but again you must expect to pay. This may have been my first visit but it will certainly not be my last!" mikewg, Birmingham.
