Top wine-and-dine events in Cape Town
There’s been a resurgence of food-and-wine pairings in Cape Town of late.
Fine diners with a penchant for award-winning wines, no longer confined to just the vast estates of the Cape Winelands, are flocking to top wine-and-dine events all over the Mother City.
These days, winemakers are bringing their produce to the people by hosting increasingly popular tasting events at Cape Town’s most prominent hotels and restaurants, from the Cape Grace at the V&A Waterfront to the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel in Sea Point.
These are my top choices:
The luxurious Cape Grace’s Signal restaurant offers a food-and-wine escape with a historical twist as they pair premium wines with tasty dishes in an intimate setting during the winter months.
In June and July, patrons will experience the pleasurable delights of Anthonij Rupert Wines (whose home is the historic L’Ormarins wine farm in Franschhoek) and Chamonix, to be enjoyed with culinary marvels such as rooibos-smoked Chalmar beef fillet, for only R550 per person.

These food-and-wine pairings are held at Winchester Mansions’ impressive Harvey’s Restaurant on the first Wednesday of every month, and are quite the visual and culinary feasts.
July’s event will feature prestigious Noble Hill wines (think the 2012 Viognier and Chardonnay), paired with courses such as braised springbok shank, chocolate fondant and more.
A reservation for this amazing five-course meal is R345 per person.

The Perfect Combination Wine & Dine Evening at the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel
The Peninsula All-Suite Hotel in Sea Point offers a mouth-watering monthly event which features a gourmet menu from the kitchen of chef Anees Behardien, expertly combined with wines from some of the Cape’s most prestigious estates.
