Top Places in Sea Point
Tammy is a born and bred Capetonian.
She absolutely loves the Mother City and its stunning views, spending time with family and friends, being around animals and gardening.
The way to her heart is through a nice strong cup of coffee and samoosas (yes, more than one).
Besides writing various content for Cape Town Tourism over the past few years, she has also been published in The Property Magazine.
Sea Point has long been a #lovecapetown favourite. No matter the season, weather or occasion, this cosmopolitan suburb in the Mother City is sure to offer delights for all tastes. We share our Top Places in Sea Point:
Safe and diverse, Sea Point Promenade is a shared public space that offers rolling lawns and jungle gyms, look out benches and ice lollies. Families love this space because it is entertaining for kids, so moms and dads can relax while the little ones go mad and tire themselves out. Joggers and couples love the Promenade for its long walkway, its sea views and cool salty air.
At the end of the Promenade is Sea Point swimming pool - recently praised as one of the world’s top ten swimming pools by the UK’s The Guardian newspaper. And most mornings you will find some sort of exercise being undertaken near the pools, like yoga or Tai Chi. Speaking of healthy living, there is also an outdoor gym for teens and adults along Sea Point Promenade that’s really fun to use.
Before heading up to the Main Road, look out for shipwrecks from the Promenade. There are two to three wrecks that can still be spotted jutting out of the water.
Sea Point’s Main Road is a bustle of shops, businesses, tattoo parlours and eateries, including the famous train carriage restaurant, Atlantic Express, and the rotating restaurant at the Top of the Ritz. But for a truly interesting night out try Richards Supper Stage and Bistro for dinner and show.
