The Grammy award-winning band The Killers will be in South Africa this December.
This will be the band’s first tour to South Africa, and with only two shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg, fans need to act quickly if they want to see them live.
The Las Vegas-based band formed in 2002 with Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci. The Killers achieved worldwide fame with their debut album Hot Fuss in 2004. The album produced hits like Mr Brightside, Somebody told me and All these things I have done. The album went platinum four times, selling over 4-million records.
Three albums later and The Killers still receive world acclaim with each new hit they produce. Winners of seven Grammy awards and various MTV, BRIT and NME awards, they have headlined some of the biggest festivals: Glastonbury, to name just one.
“We are truly honoured to be associated with yet another talented award-winning band such as The Killers on their first ever South African tour,” said Franco Maria Maggi, marketing manager of sponsors Heineken in South Africa, in an interview with Cape Town Alive.
The Killers will play at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on December 4, 2009 and at the Val De Vie Estate in Cape Town on December 6. Tickets range from R269 to R526 and can be booked through Computicket.
