The Cape Floral Kingdom – A Cape Town Tourism photo essay
The Cape Floral Kingdom was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2004. Many of the beautiful indigenous flowers that form part of the kingdom can be seen in the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.

Kirstenbosch – South Africa’s world-famous national botanical garden – is home to over 22 000 indigenous plants. The garden is set against the impressive backdrop of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak.

Kirstenbosch was established in 1913 to protect the immense floral wealth of the Cape region.

Whether you have a relaxed picnic on the sloping lawns, take a gentle walk along the paved paths through the garden or go on a more energetic hike on the popular trails up Table Mountain, you’ll be able to appreciate the wealth of beauty that the Cape Floral Kingdom has to offer.
