The annual Helderberg Wine Festival is more than just wine
Four days of delicious wines to taste, as well as live entertainment, exciting outdoor activities and breathtaking scenery on offer – that’s the popular annual Helderberg Wine Festival that runs from October 20 to 23, 2011.
With more than 30 of the region’s best wineries participating, and hundreds of wines to taste, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Stellenbosch and Somerset West are renowned for their unbelievable beauty and form the backdrop for this event, now in its fourth year.
Festival-goers will move between award-winning wine estates like Vergenoegd, Waterkloof and Lourensford to enjoy free wine tastings and the tailor-made activities on each farm.
From the mountain bike race at Lourensford to the bikers’ Breakfast Run at Vergenoegd and the Foot of the Helderberg Walk at Eikendal, there is plenty to see and do in the Boland.
Scrumptious food will keep your hunger pangs at bay while entertainment includes live acts like Tina Delacovias and others, and a live broadcast of the 2011 Rugby World Cup final on huge flat-screen TVs. The little ones are in for a great time too with plenty of fun activities that include face painting, jumping castles and mechanical bull rides.
