Bay Harbour Comedy Supper Club launches in Hout Bay
Fazielah Williams
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.
Cape Town is well known for three things: fabulous views, great food and hilarious comedians.
The recently launched Comedy Supper Club, at the Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay, brings these three elements together beautifully.
At the launch, comedians Marc Lottering, Rob van Vuuren and Mum-z kept the 400-strong crowd warm and entertained with their laugh-a-minute sets, while the market’s delicious food and beverage stalls, including the Boom Bar, kept hunger pangs at bay. Worth a try is the seafood paella at just R35 a serving.
Marc Lottering, one of the Mother City's most established comedians, headlined the Bay Harbour Comedy Supper Club launch event.
Mum-z, Johannesburg's funnyman, had the crowd of 400 in stitches during his set.
The Comedy Supper Club, the latest addition to the Bay Harbour Market, will be a monthly event, taking place on the first Wednesday of every month and will feature three comedic acts in addition to all of the usual food traders. Bay Harbour will donate all proceeds from each Comedy Supper Club evening to HOUT BAY C.A.R.E.S, a sustainable community project working with people struck by poverty and drug abuse in Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu.
Anthony Stroebel, Bay Harbour’s co-founder, and Rob van Vuuren, MC for the launch event, share their love of Cape Town and comedy with us in the video interview below:
Book now for the next Bay Harbour Comedy Supper Club event on Wednesday, September 5, 2012. The line-up includes the UK's Martin Davis, headliner Stuart Taylor and support comedians Carl Weber and Anne Hirsch.
