The 3rd TOPS Gugulethu Wine Festival 2013 in Instagram
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.
Braving the chilly weather, hundreds of wine lovers descended on the popular event for a divine wine experience.
In addition to the usual viticultural suspects, including greats Nederburg Wines and Durbanville Hills, sparkling wine makers JC le Roux and Pongracz were in attendance, as were 4th Street and the Cape Winelands. Newcomers Green Shebeen and Jimmijagga held their own against the titans of wine with their sweet offerings.
When festival-goers weren’t jiving to the sounds of the slick YFM DJs Smash and Linda Mbuso at their lounge, they were feasting on delectable offerings from Mzoli’s Place, Afro Pizza and Z.A.Cafe at the Saints Chillzone.
The DStv VIP tent was buzzing with local celebs, including MasterChef South Africa judges Pete Goffe-Wood and Benny Masekwameng (who is also Tsogo Sun’s culinary superstar), and entertainment by the talented Marimba Vibrations.
