Table Mountain panorama – Flickr pic of the day

image

This beautiful image was captured by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Keith Palmer aka kalmenias.

Keith says, “I took my first photo of Table Mountain way back in 1971 while in the navy, as my ship, a tanker, passed around the Cape.

“But it was another 35 years before I had a second chance to snap this iconic image, when in 2006 my son came to live in Cape Town.

“Finding new routes up to the summit is now an annual challenge – Skeleton Gorge, Platteklip or Kasteelspoort – each climb has its own character.

“This photo was taken from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront on a day when the mountain was cloaked in its ‘tablecloth’ – the characteristic cloud formation caused by rising moist air. Then it is a sensible choice to enjoy the panoramic views of the mountain from the base!”
