Sunset on Table Mountain - Facebookers share their stories

There's nothing quite like watching the sun set from the top of Table Mountain, and so many people have stories to share about their favourite moments doing exactly that. We asked fans of the 'I ♥ Cape Town' Facebook page to share their amazing sunset moments on the mountain. Here's what they said:

There's nothing like watching the sun set from Table Mountain with friends and family

Everyone, young and old, can comfortably enjoy the beauty of Table Mountain, thanks to the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. Lynn'e Kapp Faasen shared her favourite sunset moment with a 91-year-old Cape Town resident. "My favourite sunset moment was spent with a remarkable 91-year-old lady, who has lived in Cape Town all her life but had never been on Table Mountain untill her 91st year. She could not stop thanking us for taking her," she said.

Table Mountain is also a popular spot for lovers and you can bet the mountain has seen her fair share of loved-up moments over the years. Samantha Malyon's favourite sunset moment on the mountain was on the official day of love - Valentine's Day. "My favourite sunset moment was, without a doubt, watching the sun set on Valentine's Day from Table Mountain. It was wonderful to see so many people there simply to celebrate life and love. The champagne didn't hurt either!" she said.

A view of the sun setting over Table Mountain is the perfect romantic setting. Just add roses, champagne and whisper sweet nothings

Table Mountain has a special place in the hearts of so many. The mountain serves as a calling card to return to Cape Town and it's often quite surprising how a simple image or mention of Table Mountain can invoke a strong emotional response. Those who have visited Cape Town have nothing but love for Table Mountain. "Watching the sun dropping into the sea on the curve of the earth is my favourite sunset moment," said Judith Malan. "Seeing the city lights twinkle from a dizzy height - it's a fairy city. I miss Table Mountain every morning, as I have no barometer to check the weather prediction against."
