Green Point Stadium in silhouette – Flickr pic of the day
Richard says, “We were heading back to the Waterfront Harbour after a cruise to Clifton. I observed this wonderful vista of the Mouille Point coastline and the stadium silhouetted against a backdrop of azure, sienna and gold, with the reflections of the sunlight glinting off the crisp ocean. The sailboat reminded me of the Arab dhows ploughing their trade in the Persian Gulf, and epitomises Cape Town’s strong maritime heritage, traditions and culture whilst the stadium represents its dynamic thrust into the future.
“Photography for me is about capturing a unique moment in time. A moment that will never pass again. I love photography that enables me to portray scenes rich in emotion, passion and spirit. These are all elements that make Cape Town a photographer’s paradise,” he continues.
The Cape of Good Hope, as named by Portuguese seafarers in the 16th Century, today has a richly textured history and culture. By experiencing the wealth of cultural attractions and heritage sites it has to offer, one can truly begin to get under the skin of our fascinating city.
