Ship stranded at Table View

A ship carrying 25 Turkish crew members became stranded on the Table View coastline this week. According to an article published on News24 the 77-metre Panamanian-registered coal bulk carrier was driven ashore while anchored. The National Sea Rescue Institute suspects the ship’s hull had a hole, causing the engine room to flood. The crew sent out a mayday signal before abandoning the ship.

More than 2000 ships have been wrecked off the South African coast.

Do you have any pictures of the stranded ship? We would love to publish them on the Cape Town Tourism blog. Please send all pictures to media@flowsa.com
