In an exciting inaugural match, Santos has stolen the first victory over rivals Ajax Cape Town in the history of the new Cape Town Stadium, in a penalty shootout following a goalless game.

After both sides failed to score in the match, it went to penalties, with both teams managing to score four goals each while their supporters went crazy. Then it was down to sudden death, and it was Santos who came away victorious, over Premier Soccer League rivals Ajax.

It was an afternoon of colour, excitement, vuvuzelas and sunshine, and a fabulous precursor to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which will kick off in South Africa in June.
