Rocky Slangkop – Flickr pic of the day

Slangkop Lighthouse

This photograph of the rocky shoreline leading to Slangkop Lighthouse was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Marc De Vries.

Marc says, “Taking an image of the Slangkop Lighthouse at Kommetjie has been on my to-do list for quite some time. On Sunday May 30, 2010, I finally got myself down there to photograph it.

“With the rocks leading to the 33m cast-iron lighthouse bathed in the golden glow of the sun’s setting rays, I couldn’t resist venturing out onto the slippery outcrop to capture this scene. I found myself snapping away out there until well after sunset, while my girlfriend waited patiently on the offshore rocks. Despite the chilling wind and getting my feet wet, it was a fun trip and I look forward to returning to this fascinating place in the future.”
