Re-live those U2 magic moments

Friday’s 360° Tour concert in Cape Town seems to have been a huge success: A starry sky, full moon and light-studded stadium creating the perfect setting for a concert Capetonians are unlikely to forget.
Jerusha Sukhdeo, who was in the crowd of over 72 000, said she enjoyed the experience to the max: “U2 was fantastic. They were as good live as I expected them to be. They did all the old favourites and some newer great songs too. The Fan Walk was so much fun: I’ve only been in Cape Town three weeks and did the Fan Walk by myself. I felt safe and enjoyed the ‘party’ atmosphere along the walk. I can’t wait for the next opportunity to do it again.
“I couldn’t have wished to see my favourite band in a better venue. [Cape Town Stadium] is an incredible place – everything from the view to the sound was perfect. I was equally impressed at the facilities; from the loos to kiosks, everything worked well.”
This was U2’s final performance in South Africa, made all the more special by Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Bono’s rendition of Stand By Me.
U2 fan Bronwen d’Oliveira also attended the concert and commented on her experience, saying, “The U2 concert at the Cape Town Stadium was incredible. The venue hosted its biggest crowd ever, yet we never felt like we waited or were at all squashed. What a brilliant design! The city put on free public transport and everyone I spoke to never waited for more than five minutes for a bus. The Fan Walk and inner city were full of happy people enjoying the warm evening, full moon and one another’s company. I’m still glowing from the experience.”
Here are a few outstanding photographs for you to flip through when you catch yourself feeling nostalgic – or envious – about this incredible night out.
